Mockingbird Essay

Jem gets dared to do something dangerous in the story.

I’m going to prove why Jem made the decision he made.

Dill dares Jem to touch the Radley house.
Quote:”I’ll swap you the gray ghost if you just go up and touch the house”.
This quote supports the reason of why Jem touches the Radley house.
Jem touches the Radley house to get the gray ghost.

Jem walks up to the Radley house and touches it.
Quote:”Jem threw open the gate and sped to the side of the house, slapped it with his palm and ran back past us”.
This quote supports the reason of how Jem touches the house.
Jem finishes the dare that dill gave him.

Dill, Jem, and Scout see movement inside the Radley house.
Quote:”The old house was the same, droopy and sick, but as we stared down the street we saw an inside shutter move”.
This quote supports the reason for what happened when Jem touched the Radley house.
Jem probably made Boo Radley angry at them.

I proved why Jem finished the dare that Dill gave him.

1) Dill dares Jem to touch the Radley house.
2) Jem walks up to the Radley house and touches it.
3) Dill, Jem, and Scout see movement inside the Radley house.

The old man and the sea

Old man and the sea by Ernest Hemingway. Scribner paperback fiction, 1952.
Genre: fiction

A man goes out to sea to catch fish but he doesn't catch anything for a long time but then he sees a marlin and catches it.

Here are some quotes. "It is unsurpassed in Hemingway's oeuvre." No name, Amazon.com reveiwer

I chose this quote because i agree with it. It means that this book is very good and that Hemingway did not make mistakes.

This book is good because it has good dialogue and storyline.

One of the books i've read doesn't have anything to do with the old man and the sea because the book i read was about war.

In the quote “ A man can be destroyed but, not defeated.” pg 38 old man and the sea. I believe this means that even if you don't get what you want at the end of the day there is always another day to try again.

This book affected me because the old man stayed at seas for days to catch something and even when he did it was taken from him, but when he came back to land people weren't mad at him for not catching anything, they were happy for him for trying.

I rate this book 4 paws = pounce on it.

story

It was a nice morning, the sun was shining the birds were singing, suddenly a bomb exploded. Mike jumped up from his sleeping bag and looked around the corner of the little cave he had found yesterday. There was a large cloud of smoke rising from the east. Mike went back in the cave and started to gather his gear together, he then looked at his map
and thought of which route he should take. Then another explosion went off and startled him again but this time he just ignored it. “Probably just bandits” Mike said, “I really don't want to run into them today, i'm running low on ammunition”. He gathered up the rest of his stuff and left the cave making sure nothing had been left behind and headed west away from the smoke cloud. It was about 12:00 pm when he left and he still has not run into any place worthy of scavenging and now his food supply is low. As he was walking he heard a faint noise of a stream or at least he hoped it was, he followed the noise step after step it grew louder and the more excited he finally got there and it was real a fresh stream and it even had fish. He wanted to set up his stuff here and spend the rest of the day taking everything that was here but feared that there could be bandits on the same trail by now. But after an hour of studying the area he found a little ditch in the ground wide enough to sleep where nobody could see him. After that he spent the rest of the day gathering water and catching fish. It was now about 5:00 pm and it was getting dark, even though Mike only made out with 6 fish he still thought he did good, he put his gear and food away and went to bed.

                                  My value essay

  1. There are a lot of valuable things in this world but what do you value the most? The first thing I value is my Xbox because it was 250 dollars and if it broke i would be really sad. My Xbox is the priced thing i value obviously because it was 250 dollars. I got my new Xbox just a couple weeks ago because my old one was horrible and I hated it. Me  and my dad pulled into the parking lot of game stop and got out of the car then went inside. My dad told me to get in line and wait while he walked around looking at games. After I traded in my old Xbox and got the new one we left the store and went home.
The second thing I value is my family because they are always there for me when I need them. And that's priceless. For example sometimes when i need help my mom, dad,or sister can help me with it. There are other times they were there for me but I just don't remember them fully. So whether you value priced things over priceless things or priceless things over priced things it doesn't matter which one it is its your choice.
